If this window could see, 2002

This interactive installation was in Looking In sponsored by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and hosted by the World-Wide Holdings Corporation at 50 Murray Street, New York, NY. The project was designed to enliven the streetscape of Lower Manhattan and offer both the participating artists and public an opportunity to explore the transitional nature of the Ground Zero area. The installation inverted the voyeuristic relationship of the viewer and the building. It invited the viewer to look into two small black holes through a red eyeglass template. As the viewer struggled to see into the black holes, his or her eyes were transmitted via security cameras to two monitors sitting in the left and right corners of the window. The appearance was that the building now watched the viewer. (a collaboration with A L Foglesong)
