Horizon Line, 2007
For Horizon Line, I use three-channels to depict my performance and merge the three-channels into one panoramic like view with the use of the horizon line of the ocean. Using yellow rope to emphasize the construction of illusionistic space, I literally tie the rope to the horizon line, anchoring the placement of the cameras to the space and scene. Essentially, the cameras dictate the scene. The center channel captures the one point perspective, while the two end channels mirror each other, reinforcing the combined three-channel vantage point and space. The action in the two end channels direct the eye to the center channel, where the yellow rope bisects the horizon line. I use the rope to emphasize the act of filming and show how the artist creates and manipulates illusionistic space.
