From There to Here and Here to There, 2010
This video simultaneously captures two perspectives of me as I run across a row of hay bales. On the top of each end bale, I place a video camera focusing down the row that captures my act. This presentation highlights Henri Bergsons assertion about movement, "There are 2 distinct kinds of movement: there is the traversed space, and the act by which the space is traversed. In one case a spatial order is established and in the other case, qualities within a temporal sequence are distinguished." The landscape perspective destabilizes with the two indistinguishable videos appearing one over the other. Emphasizing the corporeality of the performance, each time I land on the end hay bale, the camera shakes. Careful observation of the videos reveals a reversal of the two punctuating the temporality of the traversed row of hay bales.
